AbbVie to invest €113.6 million in sterile manufacturing

AbbVie plans to invest €113.6 million ($139 million) to expand its manufacturing facility in Sligo, Ireland to support its oncology pipeline.

The investment is for new sterile manufacturing technology at the company’s Ballytivnan, Sligo site. The investment is expected to create approximately 100 new jobs over the course of three years in a variety of technical and manufacturing positions, according to information from Industrial Development Agency (IDA) Ireland, an economic development body for Ireland.

AbbVie has expanded its Sligo site several times since 2012. From 2012 to 2014, AbbVie invested €85 million in the Sligo facility to increase manufacturing capacity. The company has operated in Sligo since 1974.
