CropLife America and Corteva issue statement on chlorpyrifos ban

The CEO of CropLife America (CLA) says he hopes the U.S. EPA will consider all avenues of appeal for a court ruling that orders the ban of the pesticide chlorpyrifos in 60 days.

Jay Vroom released a statement saying they’re disappointed in the decision this week by the Ninth Circuit Appeals Court.

A statement from Corteva, the maker of the chemical, says they agree with the dissenting judge’s opinion in the split decision: That chlorpyrifos is a critical pest management tool for growers around the world and that regulatory agencies have carefully looked at the safety and benefits of the product and approve of its use.

Groups that brought the challenge say the decision to ban chlorpyrifos is the right one and long overdue for health safety.
