Corporate Responsibility

The Go Further Investment Index launches today, with companies invited to nominate themselves or others in the Northern Powerhouse and Scotland to showcase their achievements through collaboration, investing and venturing.

The Go Further Investment Index campaign is a partnership between UMi, Global Corporate Venturing (GCV) and CPI. It aims to engage, showcase and celebrate progressive businesses that are pushing through and achieving their aspirations through access to investment, impactful collaborations, and the foresight to inform and respond to the changing world around them.

The Go Further Investment Index campaign offers everyone in the Northern Powerhouse region and Scotland the opportunity to connect, learn more, celebrate success and tackle challenges together. The campaign will explore themes such as diversity, levelling up, sustainability, early-stage investments, models for corporate venturing and investment in technology (including deep tech).

A content rich event will officially launch the Index, showcase investment hotspots and provide an opportunity for sponsors, businesses and investors alike to celebrate, collaborate and network. The event will take place in Edinburgh and will feature high profile speakers from industry, the Index partners, sponsors and ambassadors.

Nicki Clark, Chief Executive of UMi, said: “The Northern Powerhouse and Scotland have been going from strength to strength, attracting significant investment and leading the way for innovation. These areas have huge strength in bioscience, health tech, clean energy, decarbonisation, circular economy, data and digitisation, space and satellite tech, AI and advanced manufacturing. There are so many exciting opportunities for corporate venturing, private and foreign direct investment for businesses and investors.

UMi delivers several funds across Scotland and the Northern Powerhouse region, and we’re always blown away by the innovation, commitment and determination of the applicants. We’re looking forward to highlighting as many of these kinds of companies as possible, unlocking and showcasing investment opportunities.”

UMi, CPI & GCV share a commitment to helping open-minded businesses go even further and, in turn, make a tangible contribution to the national and global economy.

James Mawson, Founder of GCV, said: “The UK government’s levelling up agenda coincides with a powerful and invigorated entrepreneurial and investment climate in the north of England and Scotland. The opportunities abound and Mawsonia, publisher of Global Corporate Venturing, Global Impact Venturing and Global University Venturing, is honoured and delighted to partner with UMi and CPI to showcase world-class companies and investors in a dynamic ecosystem.”

Alfredo Ramos Plasencia, Managing Director of Enterprises at CPI, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with UMi and GCV on the launch of the Go Further Investment Index. The Index will show the strength and depth of innovative, high growth potential companies residing in the North of England and Scotland. CPI has the privilege of supporting many of these innovative companies with the development of their products and processes. As CPI’s investor engagement and ventures arm, CPI is excited to be involved in this initiative to showcase the range of opportunities these companies present to investors.”
