Clariant allures personal care formulators with new multi-functional rheology modifier

Clariant, a world leader in specialty chemicals, announces the global launch of Aristoflex Silk, a novel rheology modifier with exceptional salt tolerance and silky, soft skin feeling for premium personal care products.

Aristoflex Silk (INCI: Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate) extends Clariant’s range of Aristoflex rheology modifiers valued by the Personal Care industry for their exceptional thickening and texturizing properties as well as their unique sensorics.

The new China-approved, EO-free and ready-to-use polymer supports formulators in achieving the diverse beauty requirements of consumers looking for highly functional and protective products to answer today’s challenging environment. The trend is epitomized by the rising demand for facial masks and sun care, expected to see 30% and 20% growth respectively over the next three years.

Aristoflex Silk combines a unique number of benefits that can assist the design of more adaptable products to address the varied aspects of beauty. In addition to improving the overall product sensory, it has a high tolerance towards salts and works at low pH. This enables formulators to go beyond current salt dosage and pH limitations without any loss of desired sensory profile. As a result, Aristoflex Silk can be used to bring outstanding texture and sensory to high factor sun care (SPF50+), skin-whitening, self-tanning and other challenging-to-formulate products in addition to daily skin care formulations.

Ralf Zerrer, Global Head Innovation and Strategic Marketing at Clariant´s Industrial & Consumer Specialties Business, comments: “Aristoflex Silk’s sensory profile plus formulation advantages will help formulators to now deliver the emotional application experience consumers crave, for highly functional and protective products. Available globally, it will be a tempting new option for brands offering the same skin care product the world over, from detox masks to skin-whitening serums.”
